You are a channel for more good than you can possibly imagine.

You are a channel for more good than you can possibly imagine. Believing you are a channel is believing that you are a vessel for God to use day to day. God answers prayers and brings goodness to people through you.

How do you know where God is sending you moment to moment? It's usually in that small voice within that nudges you in ways that only you understand. We call that intuition. The more you follow it, the more you notice the subtlety of how it functions. Intuition is when “something told me to...” It is flowing, just knowing what to do next without knowing how you know. Intuition operates in stillness and nudges. Harnessing the power of intuition allows you to manifest exactly what you need when you need it.

You don’t have to strain and force intuition. In fact, the more you struggle and grasp, the more it will elude you. Take the experience of drowning for example. When you are drowning, you use a lot of energy to keep you from going under. Your body is so charged with the fear of annihilation and the panic blocks your ability to accurately perceive your surroundings, much less save yourself. When you do get to safety, you are exhausted and depleted.

The dominant program in the world is that you achieve success by the drowning paradigm: struggle, grinding, forcing. That is false.

It is a false program. You are way more effective in the waters of life when you know that you are safe. From that buoy, you have the ability to get yourself from point A to point B. You can discern where the current (of the Universe, life, love, God, flow) wants to move and efficiently use your effort to swim to your destination.

If you understand that you are a messenger bearing good news and wonderful gifts into the world, you can also trust that you don’t get ahead through force but through grace. When you are co-creating with God, you can move with ease and flow instead of struggle and strain. God will take you places your intellect, your work ethic, or ability could never. If God is accomplishing something through you, the work is already done. You are simply the vessel for the manifestation.

When your intuition draws you towards a vision, trust that God is directing you towards more goodness than you can possibly imagine. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to try and put in effort. What it does mean is that if you surrender yourself and allow God to use you to bring more positivity, light and love in the world, you can trust that you are infinitely supported. God will always preserve what you have and make up the difference with what you lack. The closed doors will be blessings, just like the open ones. Life’s current will direct you through the highest and best path for you, even when it doesn’t always feel like it. You get to swim, flowing through life with ease and enjoying yourself!!

Now is the most powerful place to be.

Now is the most powerful place to be. Now is the only place you can exercise choice. You can’t control the past of the future. Time travel happens in the now. Infinite futures are accessible to you. With each intention and choice, you align yourself to a particular timeline of events. Daily, you can make the choice to consciously timeline jump into the highest and best possibilities for yourself. That is why it is essential that you are connected to intuition, that you have a practice to commune with God, have loving friends and relationships, and be grounded by the loving  counsel of your family. All of these things remind you of your power. It helps you remember to choose your life instead of following the current of the masses.

Vanessa’s Road To College: How to take on life’s tests

Notes for Vanessa

Dear Vanessa,

For the next several weeks, you will be preparing for SATs. To help encourage you along the way, here are some nuggets of advice and insights during this pivotal time in your life. My intention is to remind you that you can make the impossible possible. Have the audacity to dream, plan, and live out your wildest dreams.

Throughout your lives, I’ve told you and Mikey that grades, in and of themselves, don’t matter. Neither do standardized tests like the ones you are preparing for, nor the other artificial barriers that you will encounter in the pursuit of your goals. So why try? Why take the time to sit with Grace and have lessons on the test? Why decide to sit and study instead of going outside and hanging out with your friends?

Well, tests & seasons of transition (e.g. from high school to college) are like gateways & portals between you and the dreams you dare to conjure for yourself. I have lived by the manta, “Dream It, Plan It, Live It” since college. To me, that is the key to manifestation. I’m going to use the example of the time I drove alone from Los Angeles to Texas to (hopefully) help illustrate my point:

Dream It

When you decide to go somewhere, you begin making the necessary preparations for where you are going with certainty. You don’t second guess whether you are going to get to your destination, it is a matter of when and how

That is the same kind of certainty you need to have about your dreams! One thing about you, once you decide you want something, you stop at nothing to get it. You need to keep that same energy about the life you want to live. Your life and potential is only as limited as your imagination & persistence.

Remember to guard your vision. When you decide you are going to do something, others may not see it for or with you. That is fine. They don’t have to. Along the way, there will be people who will, intentionally or carelessly, stomp on your vision or doubt your ability.

No one can hijack your imagination without your consent. No one can take away your power— it is something you give away in the small moments you allow someone to make you doubt yourself. But remember, you can ALWAYS call your power back home to you. You don’t have to live out someone else’s imagination.

Plan It

Imagine how foolish it would have been for me to get in the car and start driving without preparing first! No wallet or budget for gas? No gps or route? No plans for stops & recuperation? No snacks?! No playlists on deck?! TUH! Not I!

In order to bring a vision into reality, you have to start giving it some weight! What does that mean? Think about vibrations; a thought is a very fine vibration. Only you can experience it, but once you say it out loud and write it out, you make the idea denser. Now, someone can see or hear, thus sharing your vision. That is why it is essential to  create a plan to achieve your visions. You convince yourself they are real by repeating them as fact and conveying it to other people like it is already reality. Some call it delusion, imma call it GETTING & BEING THE BAG!

On the road to your vision, as you are talking about the plan, sharing the plan with others, and traveling down the path you charted for yourself, your plan may change. That is a good thing!  Never be afraid to stop, evaluate where you are, and change course as needed. The more you refine and iterate your plan, the clearer you feel and the more real your dreams feel to you and others.

Live it

What happens to  a dream achieved? What happens when you set a goal and then you achieve it? Some people are never satisfied because they are always chasing the next moment, the next opportunity, the next achievement, and so on. But they are never truly here. Now.

They never really live. You don’t want to wait until your dream to live it. You don’t want to wait till college, or grad school, or marriage, or children, or retirement to be who you truly want to be. You have to live along the way. So make sure the dreams you dream feel joyful to be in. And don’t defer your joy either.

How do you do that? How do you live in the reality you are conjuring  as you are making your way there? Remember that vibration metaphor? Well, the next step is actually embodying the thing you are envisioning. Walking like you are there. Talking, thinking, feeling, knowing, existing HERE. NOW.

The vision is your why. Your daily presence and embodiment of the unshakable knowledge that you are 1000% DAT BISH is HOW. By being present for the journey. By making close friends and sharing the journey with the people you love. Your dreams come from within you. Like the seed of an oak tree, everything you will become is already inside of you.

It is up to you to LIVE! To dream big! To get the BAG! BE THE BAG! YOU ARE THE JOB! There is truly nothing you cannot do once you decide that is what you are about to do. Periodt.

No one can stop you but you.

We are all rooting for you.

You got this.

We got you.

All my love,

Titilayọ

You are limitless

You are limitless. God brought you here for a reason. God WANTS to walk with you and express itself through you all of the days of your life. God has great things in store for you and wants to support and bless people through you. Your destiny is so much bigger than you can possibly imagine because its not about you. When we offer the world our authentic tone, we make a harmonious, beautiful sound. You are here to add your voice to that harmony, all to the glory of God. The only boundary between you and manifesting anything is your ability to conceive of that reality for yourself. Faith is meeting the darkness of the unknown with the light of presence, awareness, and imagination. You have to be able to dream it. Then use your mind to plan it, then release attachment to the outcome, trusting that God will bring forth the vision in your heart in the highest and best way. To me, that is what it is to walk by faith and not by sight.

No mud, no lotus

Dear Mikey & Vanessa,

One of my favorite books is No Mud, No Lotus by Thich Nhat Hanh. The essential takeaway is that lotus flowers cannot grow unless they have a lot of mud. Without the darkness, depth, and nutrition of the mud, you can’t produce the beauty of a flower. That means you have to take the good with the bad. Actually, it means you never know how the bad is good, so trust that all of it will help you unfold and bloom. Everyone and thing you encounter helps you understand your consciousness a little better.

No Mud, No Lotus also teaches that there is a difference between pain and suffering. Pain in the initial reaction to the stimulus. Suffering is the story you tell yourself about why the pain is there. While pain is often not a choice, suffering always is. Always.

I am as sure that you will know pain as I am that the sun will rise tomorrow. However, accepting the full spectrum of your experiences  is easier when you learn that everything you encounter comes to serve you in some way. Even the painful ones. Everything, in the grand scheme, is working for your good. The people you thought hurt or failed you are your most noble and impactful teachers. Understand that like you, everyone in this earth school is playing their role. Trials are opportunities to grow quickly. Heartbreaks are great messengers. Failures & disappointments are the mud you need to bloom.

We make suffering for ourselves when we resist change, refuse to let something heal, or hold on to unforgiveness. We suffer when we have specific expectations that aren’t met. When we can’t let go of attachments to what we believed we were supposed to have or what was supposed to happen. We grip onto what shoulda, coulda, woulda. We decide that this one path forward is the only way we would be happy, and suffer by closing ourselves off to the infinite other possibilities for how life could unfold before us.

Pain may come, but you now know that you have the responsibility to determine how long suffering must stay. Responsibility is the ability to respond. Many things are not in your control, but you can ALWAYS choose how you respond. Know you can always choose a miracle. I have learned that a miracle is a change in perspective. Perspective starts to change when you pause, ask yourself questions, and really listen to find the answer within before you react.

Who am I?

How do I want to feel? Am I choosing that now?

Why is this making me feel this way?

What part of me is resisting this?

What is this here to teach me?

Is this serving me? If not, how do I release it?

How could this serve me if I expanded how I am seeing it?

What do I want to contribute?

Miracles happen in the pause. Miracles happen when you realize you have more choices that you had let yourself consider. When you open yourself up to new worlds of possibilities. It is your responsibility as a sovereign & empowered person to choose what your inner atmosphere feels like. That is how I like to describe the space between your two ears. What it is like to be you. It is your responsibility to dream, manifest, and radiate your best self. Never give away your power of choice. You make those choices in the kinds of thoughts you think and the stories you make up about yourself and the world. You can choose your reality. You may not be able to choose the mud you get, but it is your choice whether you want to bloom or let the mud rot you. You can choose to release what does not support your growth or dims your light. You can choose to release heaviness. You can choose to change. Choose to forgive. Choose to smile. To hope. To fall and get back up 7x77 times. Choose to forgive others because that it the only way you will give yourself the grace to evolve, too. Do not be a victim to change. Shape change. Choose it.

You’ll learn this with experience but I want you to have this cheat code now.

All my love,

Titilayo

YOU MAY WONDER…

Dear Mikey & Vanessa,

You may wonder what is the point of this whole experience of life? Earth is a school. You chose to come here to learn and grow, just like everything around you. We are alive to express our uniqueness authentically, learn, grow and evolve. You are divinity experiencing itself through new eyes. Like every other seeded living being on this planet, your goal is to evolve and unfold according to your divine pattern. You’ve come to play, have experiences that helps you explore parts of yourself, and how to embody the love of God.

You may wonder why negative/bad things happen. The answer is we create our reality. Individually, we create our inner atmosphere through our thoughts, emotions, and core beliefs. As a family, we co-create a lifetime bond. As we exist in environments with others (such as school, city, state, nation). Everyone is making choices that create certain realities. The earth is abundant to provide for the needs of every living being on this planet. People, through their choices (of oppressive systems, rules, race, patriarchy, etc.) have created the reality of scarcity, greed, brutality, and fear many experience as normal. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. This is called Newton’s law, and is spiritually referred to as the law of correspondence. All it really means is that what goes around, comes around. You get from the world what you give. I’m not saying that people invite bad things to happen in their lives. What I am saying is that your actions affect others and that plays out on a very large scale in society. We have been programmed with an inverted reality of what is normal, but it is our duty to intentionally create a new normal. Capitalism prioritizing profits over human lives is not normal. Greedily hoarding resources so people starve while others have more money than they could spend in 1000 lifetimes (even if they could take their money with them) is not normal.

When other people’s choices cause us pain, what should that mean and how should we respond? The book No Mud, No Lotus by Thich Nhat Hahn gave me a perspective that I want to share with you. The takeaway is that lotus flowers cannot grow unless they have a lot of mud. Without the darkness of the mud, you can’t produce the beauty of a flower. That means you have to take the good with the bad. Everyone and thing you encounter helps you understand your consciousness a little better. No Mud No Lotus also teaches that there is a difference between pain and suffering. Pain in the initial reaction to the stimulus. For example, you feel pain when you burn your hand or get sick. Suffering is the story your mind creates about the pain that extends or intensifies the experience beyond the actual sensation of pain. For example, pain may be caused by the end of a relationship. However, suffering can get out of hand when you start telling yourself stories about how they dumped you because you aren’t lovable, good enough, smart enough, etc.

While pain is often not a choice, suffering always is. Always. That is not to say you should/will never suffer. However, you now know that you have the responsibility to determine how long suffering must stay. Responsibility is the ability to respond. Many things are not in your control, but you can ALWAYS choose how you respond. You choose your reality. You can choose to release what does not support your growth. It is your responsibility as a sovereign & empowered being to cultivate your inner atmosphere. Never give that power away to anyone. Accepting the full spectrum of your experiences  is easier when you learn that everything you encounter comes to serve you in some way. Even the painful ones. Sometimes the people we thought hurt or failed us the most are our most noble and impactful teachers. Understand that like you, they are in this earth school playing their role. You’ll learn this with experience but I want you to have this cheat code now. It eases so much suffering.

Being strong in knowing the spirit of God within you helps you discern what is real and true. It is your birthright to live a life of divine ease and flow. Be free. Free yourself from shame, blame, doubt, or fear. Take responsibility for the energy you radiate and choose, everyday, to be yourself. Your authenticity frees you from feeling like you have to fit in or conform to what people tell you. It helps you create new realities and new possibilities based on your knowing of your truth and intuition. Walking in your power changes things outside of you as much as it transforms your life.

All my love,

Titilayo

Suicide is a Permanent Solution to a Temporary Problem

Dear Mikey & Vanessa,

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. This phrase literally saved my life and I want you to know this to your very core. I want you to know that I understand what it feels like to want to die. I know what it feels like to feel so worthless that you don’t deserve to take up space or breath. I’ve contemplated and attempted suicide. I can’t even remember the events/feelings that led me into those dark spaces within me, but I remember the feelings of hopelessness. The depression that feels like a weighted blanket too heavy to heave off of me. I’ve cried and felt despair that felt like it would never end. It did. The phrase “it is always darkest before the dawn” may seem cliche but it. is. the. TRUTH! After each period of darkness, I’ve always felt more joy than I could have imagined for myself at my lowest points. It is important to let yourself feel, to cry, to hurt, to feel the depth of pain. But don’t be fooled into trading your precious life when you are overwhelmed by the intensity of what you feel. Know it will pass. I promise you. The only thing constant in this world is change, my loves. Your circumstances will change but your heart will remain the same. That is why it is important to trust your heart and know you can share and express yourself when you get overwhelmed. All of your siblings have been there and are here for you. We see you, love you beyond your imagination, and want you to thrive. We got you.

You will find that it is hardest to express yourself and ask for help when you are in the depths of despair. But that is when you need to call someone who loves you. I almost killed myself one day, then someone told me that they loved me and that stopped me cold. In my despair, I believed that I was unlovable. I was wrong. You will convince yourself of hateful thoughts in depression & despair. They are illusions. You cannot believe them. When you need help remembering who you are, I will remind you that you are precious. That I looooove you. That I’ve loved you since you were a bunch of cells in mom. I’ve loved you all of your life and I see how much you have to offer. Don’t let go of life. Don't let go of hope. There is always a better day ahead.

Don’t be afraid of death in this life. Instead, learn how to master your fears and harness death to help you consciously grow/unfold. Use everything that happens in this life to expand your compassion and ability to love yourself and others. Everything is temporary and you cannot hold on to anything, good or bad. Things you want to last forever are going to die. People too. You are going to die. You are already dying. You are doing as much living as you are dying at any given moment. Everyday, inside of you, cells of all kinds are being created, growing and being destroyed. That must happen for healthy functioning. I hear that it takes seven years of this life/death cycle to have an entirely new body. You two have really shown me that! I’ve watched you grow up and evolve while retaining the same essence as the first time I looked into your eyes. Imagine that! Death is a necessary and healthy part of life. Soon, I’ll get you a plant because I’ve learned this principle especially from the plants in my life. When you watch plants, you notice leaves are dying at the same time that new buds are arising. Look at the seasons. We marvel as the leaves die beautiful deaths in the fall all to be renewed in the Spring.  That principle of the life/death cycle must apply also to your ideas. It must be okay allow old information to die in light of new learning. Let go of old ideas. When you know better, you do better. It is all about learning, being balanced and observing life with detachment. This is the practice of feeling ease when releasing what no longer serves you. The only thing that is constant in this life is change, my love. Good, bad, or otherwise, everything will pass. Everything is in motion. You can move with it with ease when you follow your heart.

All my love,

Titilayo

At any moment, you have the choice to refresh and reset your energy.

Dear Mikey & Vanessa,

The key to life is energy mastery. Part of mastering your energy is being able to notice and regulate your emotions. Energy mastery means having control about how you feel instead of it being determined by someone or something outside of yourself. Instead of being a thermometer that rises and falls based on external conditions, you can be a thermostat. A thermostat sets the temperature and stays there. When you walk into a room, you feel the atmosphere created by the thermostat.

Being a thermostat means that no external power has power to change your inner atmosphere. No external power has the authority to direct your lifeforce or keep you stagnant. You, and only you, decide how your energy will express each day. Whenever you feel heavy, stuck, sad, depressed, or just plan down, think of the turn around game we used to play when you were younger. We’d be mad at each other, then decide to stop, turn around 3 times, then pretend like we hadn’t seen each other your however long the fight lasted. We would forget it all, hug it out, and move on. You two taught me that lesson in energy master. It is okay to feel intensity and be mad, but don’t stay there. You can choose when you are done being upset and release it intentionally. Pray about it. Write what is on your heart in a journal. Call me or one of your friends. Ask for help to raise your mood when you need help releasing hard emotions. Don’t burden your heart for too long.

I hope you choose to follow your heart and know that God will always give you the information you need for the next step of your journey. At any moment, you can change your life and the world by changing your heart. You can choose Love at any moment. It is your natural state. Your essence. You are a child of God. You have the breath of life. Borrowed for a finite time, but connected to the procession of all of the life that came before you. That life force beats in your heart in each moment. And as long as that is the case, you can choose Love at any moment. Love is available as soon as you release whatever was blocking you from expressing love to yourself and others.

All my love,

Titilayo

Authenticity is Your Power

Dear Mikey & Vanessa,

Authenticity is the cheat code for inner peace and success. You have your own unique pattern and contribution into the harmony of this world. You are needed and we are here to support you to unfold into your highest potential. People are waiting to be blessed by your love, your life, your gifts, and all that you will offer the world. You can’t walk in your purpose if you do not know who you are. You cannot shine if you are unfamiliar with the light of divine love that wants to express your life and being. God gave us all a gift that lies in you being exactly who you are. Right now, you are in a time in your life when you will feel a lot of internal and external pressure to conform to an artificial idea/image of who you should be. You are being programmed to believe that you are not enough. You are getting this programming from the media, from pain, from school, other people’s limited beliefs, etc. That you are not worthy of being essential and uniquely brilliant. You are being programmed to dim who you are to feel the safety of acceptance. Know those are lies. If you can get this now, you will be invincible. Your power is in you being who you are. That is why you need to be able to hear God telling you what wants to express through you. Release any judgment or shame you have already internalized that tells you that you aren’t enough. I can’t tell you how much of a major key this is! You are a powerful creator and you are being programmed to forget that and give your power away to external validation and salvation. Life is to be experienced without shame or fear. I recently heard that life is musical. If a symphony had one note, what fun is that? The beauty of the music is the movement of the notes. The highs and the lows and the spaces in between.  CREATE. Do not box yourself in! EXPAND! UNFOLD. IN ALL WAYS that your heart wants to and know that it will guide you into all truth.

All my love,

Titilayo

You Create Your Own Reality

Dear Mikey & Vanessa,

You create your own reality. Each of us does. Ofcourse, we co-create each community we become a part of (i.e. family, friendship, church groups, clubs, etc.) but at bottom, we experience all of that from our unique perspective...a particular consciousness. That experience is deeply shaped by our geography, ancestry, culture, wealth, family, upbringing, and all of the other layers of identities that we overlay over ourselves along the way. All of those inform how our brains process the light information that comes into our eyeballs and turns it into a story. A reality. A personality.

I think the analogy of a computer is helpful here.

Think of your body as hardware. You can tinker with parts, but generally, you are stuck with the outer form. You have to take care of the hard drive because if it crashes, you can’t enjoy any fancy games or access anything because there is no power.

Think of your mind as software. You can download new software that improves or radically transforms the way you experience the hardware. That is learning.

Now, think of yourself as a programmer. You can intentionally choose what programs your consciousness chooses to run each day. Are you running programming that tells you to be afraid to die, to fail, to go beyond your comfort zone?

Know that you can change your reality at any time. That applies internally and externally. Imagine your body, your mind, as a little meadow where only you control the seeds that take root, what the soil will be, and what the atmosphere/climate it. Will you tend your garden or will you let anyone scatter whatever seeds they want into your mind/heart.

All my love,

Titilayo

Trust Yourself

Dear Mikey & Vanessa,

You must begin to trust yourself. There is nothing more important than being able to trust your knowing. Know that you do not need anyone to stand between you hearing and understanding God within your heart. And to do that, you have to know what you sound like; the still small voice within you. That is God guiding you. When you intuitively feel a gentle prompting to do something and it does not necessarily logically make sense, do it anyway. Take note of the result. Also know that you will not always see what the result of your faithfulness is. Be faithful to the call of your heart. [Elijah on the mountain]. It is essential that you learn what God in your heart feels and sounds like. Know that God moved in the fruits of the Spirit. Learn to observe your thoughts and emotions. Notice what energizes you, thrills you, moves you, hurts you, inspires you, how each moment/situation feels to you.  The voice won’t rush or stress you. It won’t feel like a compulsion. Your intuition is patient, easeful, gentle, kind, and is God lovingly aligning you to the highest and best possible outcomes for you. It never feels like shame. Or fear. Or rejection. Your inner knowing works through harmony and you intuitively know what resonates as true or false. Don’t let anyone take away your trust of your intuition. God is the feeling when you feel a sense of flow. Learn to feel for that flow and let it order your steps. Learn to feel the flow of God inspiring you to fulfil the pattern and purpose you came on earth to fulfil. Within you flow rivers of living water and we all have the same Source.

All my love,

Everything is Love

Dear Mikey & Vanessa,

Your relationship with yourself is your primary relationship because wrapped up in it is your relationship with the Holy Spirit, Love. I know it sounds cliche or cheesy, but you truly cannot love anyone until you love yourself.  Love is embodied as you and in how you relate to others, recognizing that divinity is in them also. Everything is Love.

God is love. God is life. God is change. One of my favorite books, Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler puts it like this:

“All that you touch, you change

All that you change, changes you.

The only lasting thing is change.

God is change…

God cannot be resisted or stopped, but can be shaped and focused”

God is all there was, is, and is to come. Each one of us is a part of God, a part of the Divine having its expression. If God is all there is, there is nothing that exists outside of God. That has been the most important realization of my life. There is nowhere in the universe that I can go where I cannot be reached by the love of God. It is all that is, yet closer to you that your next breath. God lives in your heart and you exist within the presence of love. Right now. This is a truth you can access now. This truth makes you free and unafraid of any form of death. What is death when you live within the infinite field of unconditional love. In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God. I believe the essence of the gospel, the good news, is that we are the word of God. Being Christ-like is to live, move, and have your very being in love. Love of God, love of self as an emanation of God, and love of others because you see your sacredness reflected in their eyes. As you’ve already seen in your life, everyone does not walk in that knowing. It took me years, observing devotion in many faiths to arrive unshakably at this knowing. I hope that, by affirming that you are an emanation of unconditional love now, you will walk in your authenticity, power, and sovereignty sooner.

All my love,

Titilayo

I am grateful to have gotten to change your diapers and have you barf on my face (I forget which one of you did that, but it was hot). I am grateful to have seen your soul’s signature unfold. You’ve each always been so signaturely yourselves. I love seeing the things that you naturally gravitate towards. To see your potential unfurl. I see so much ahead of you because I know that your capabilities are limitless. Your brilliance is innate.

I’m making this series to talk to you about these important gems because I see your maturity and I know that your understanding is ever expanding.
